Alerts sent to cell phones

Aug 1, 2002 12:00 PM

Teletrac, a provider of fleet location information systems, has added a wireless messaging and alert feature to its FleetDirector product. The new feature enables fleet owners and managers to receive real-time wireless notifications about driver status via mobile devices.

Time is saved, says Teletrac, by not having to obtain and read printed reports to ascertain vehicle status. The new feature works in conjunction with Teletrac's FleetDirector eClient system, which tracks vehicles using digital maps transmitted over the Internet to computers.

Users can customize the messaging feature to send exception alerts and driver messages to any cellular phone number or e-mail address designated in the system.

Business managers can receive notices via mobile phones or wireless e-mail devices while the problem is occurring, allowing them to address field issues before they turn into significant lost time and increased costs.
