Bridge-collapse trucker had alcohol in system Jul 3, 2003 12:00 PM A trucker killed in a May accident that caused a bridge to collapse onto Interstate 80 in Nebraska near the Colorado border had methamphetamine and alcohol in his system, according to State Police in Nebraska. Toxicology tests and the autopsy report found the substances in the body of Douglas W. Lohmeyer, state patrol spokesperson Terri Teuber told The Associated Press, though the amounts were not made public. The autopsy report said the cause of death was blunt force trauma. State patrol investigators said there was no evidence the wreck was an act of suicide.
Lohmeyer's truck crashed into the bridge on May 23, and traffic on the highway was detoured about 24 miles around the site for two days.
