Bulldog barks online

Sep 1, 2000 12:00 PM

Operator handbooks, maintenance and lubrication manuals, and engine tune-up guides for Mack Trucks are now available online at www.macktrucks.com.

The interactive operators' handbooks are fully searchable, allowing users to quickly find information without wading through an entire manual. Currently the Mack site offers handbooks for CH/CL, CX, DM, LE, MR and R Series models.

The web-based maintenance and lubrication manuals cover regular servicing, as well as information on breaking in new vehicles, noise emission control, cold weather operation, fasteners and 50 other subjects.

The tune-up section of the Mack web site provides engine specifications for Mack 6- and 8-cyl. diesels back to 1988. Service bulletins will be added in the near future, according to the company.

PSDI, the developer of Maximo and MRO.COM, will offer its maintenance, repair and operations management systems to smaller fleets and businesses through new suites of hosted applications. As an alternative to purchasing the company's software products, the PSDI Hosting Center acts as an ASP (application service provider).

PSDI says its hosted services will be available in North America later this year, and they will then be rolled out to international markets over the next 12 months. Go to www.psdi. com for more information.

Developed by Compsee Inc., the water- and dust-resistant hand-held also includes a scanner port for bar-code wands or lasers, a full alphanumeric keypad, and a backlit LED screen.

Fleets running Arsenault Assoc.'s Dossier maintenance management software system will hold a users group meeting at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, N.J., on Nov. 1 and 2. The group will review new features for Version 3.0 and learn about new online support services. Hands-on training will be offered.
