Bus fleet goes two-way
May 31, 2002 12:00 PM
Red Rose Transit Authority of Lancaster County, PA, is installing an automatic vehicle-location system that uses a two-way radio system as opposed to going the more common route of using satellites for data transmission.
Red Rose Transit provides public transportation for some 500,000 county residents, completing approximately 2.5-million fixed-route and shared-ride trips annually.
According to Red Rose, it selected Radio Satellite Integrators (RSI) of Torrance, CA, because its GPS-based vehicle tracking system operates at a lower cost by using two-way radios to communicate data.
