Cummins Westport bags bus deal Sean Kilcarr, senior editor Jan 28, 2002 12:00 PM Cummins Westport Inc. has bagged a deal to provide 40 propane-powered engine for commercial buses owned by the Los Angeles DOT. Vancouver, BC-based Cummins Westport said the engines are its B5.9LPG model, a 5.9 liter, spark-ignited engine rated at 195 horsepower. The engines will be installed in new 30-foot low-floor buses manufactured by ElDorado National of Chino, CA, a manufacturer commercial shuttle buses. Delivery of the new buses is scheduled for early 2002 and they will augment 104 ElDorado buses with B5.9LPG engines already in service at LADOT.
Cummins Westport is a joint venture of diesel engine maker Columbus, IN-based Cummins and Westport Innovations of Vancouver, BC.
