Diesel Falls 1.2 Cents
Jun 8, 2004 12:00 PM
The national average price of diesel fell 1.2 cents last week,
bringing the total down to $1.734 per gallon, according to the
Department of Energy. The price decrease coincides with last
week’s OPEC pledge to raise its output ceiling, and Saudi
Arabia’s additional assurance to up its capacity in a bid to
bring down pump prices.
California diesel received the largest drop, shedding 6.5 cents per
gallon. Despite this, California remains the most expensive region to
buy diesel at $2.121 per gallon. New England was the only region that
posted an increase, rising at a modest 0.1 cents to $1.816. The Lower
Atlantic is the cheapest region to fill up at $1.649.
