Doris Hansen named ATA driver of the year Sep 16, 2003 12:00 PM Doris Hansen, a professional truck driver leased to Quality Transportation Inc. of Baker, MT, has been named the American Trucking Assns. (ATA) 2003 National Driver of the Year. Hansen, the first woman ever to receive the award, is being honored for more than three decades of service, an accident-free record, and for her personal commitment to safety and accomplishments within the trucking industry and her community, ATA said. Since she first started driving in 1967, Hansen has logged more than three million miles without an accident. Some of the accident free mileage came as she and husband, John, worked as a sleeper team.
“The trucking industry can be proud of professionals like Doris Hansen who work hard every day to deliver what America needs safely, efficiently, and on time,” said ATA president & CEO Bill Graves.
