Driver Screening Service Begins

Apr 13, 2004 12:00 PM

Unicru and USIS/DAC (US Investigations Services) announced a partnership to provide an application, screening, and hiring service for fleets. The service cross-references electronic applications with employment history files, Commercial Drivers License Information System (CDLIS), and DOT-related background checks to help identify safe drivers.

Job candidates can complete the electronic application, by using an on-site computer or via the Internet, which includes questions that assess safety attributes.

The application is then transmitted to a database and is evaluated against criteria of previous successful employees. CDL and social security number checks are also performed.

The results are usually reported within minutes, according to Unicru, and are accessible via Web browser.

“Integration efforts such as this make it easier for carriers to stay in compliance with DOT-mandated hiring regulations while reducing turnover, diminishing loss of company property, and improving their bottom line,” said Jim Collins, USIS Commercial Services president.
