Michelin Pumping Up Prices
May 17, 2004 12:00 PM
Michelin North America today announced it will be increasing its
prices by 3 to 8% effective August 1st for tires for commercial vehicle
tires as well as those for earthmovers. The announcement follows on the
heels of one made by the company on April 23rd that stated Michelin
will increase its prices by an average of 3% on passenger and
light-truck tires in the U.S. replacement market effective July
5th.
As a group, tire makers have been hit especially hard this year by
rising costs for the raw materials used to build tires. Earlier this
month Bridgestone/Firestone cited that factor as the reason why it was
boosting its prices 5% across the board effective June 1st.
