Petro Gets Wi-Fi’d

Jun 10, 2004 12:00 PM

Petro Stopping Centers has announced that Wi-Fi high-speed wireless Internet is now available throughout the chain. The truckstop chain built the 802.11g network in partnership with Truckstop.net to offer truckers Internet access from virtually anywhere on Petro properties.

The Internet can be accessed from any computer or laptop equipped with an 802.11g-compatible network card and purchasing an account via credit card or Truckstop.net prepaid card available at Petro Travel Stores.

Through its partnership with Truckstop.net, Wi-Fi access is extended throughout all Truckstop.net hotspots— not just Petro truckstops.

“While some competitors are building proprietary networks, our customers told us they wanted to join a single Wi-Fi network offering hot spots at all different kinds of locations,” said Richard Tisdale, Petro chief information officer.
