Phillips oil meets CI-4 spec Jun 9, 2003 12:00 PM Phillips 66 Lubricants has introduced Super HD II, an oil is now formulated to exceed American Petroleum Institute’s (API) new CI-4 specification. The company said its CI-4 oils are formulated to combat corrosion- and soot-caused engine and valve train wear, reduce piston deposits and bearing corrosion, and increase seal life. Super HD II is specifically formulated to meet OEM preference for the heavy-duty diesel engine protection offered by multigrade oil performance, including a balance of low viscosity for easy cold-weather starts and high-viscosity wear protection under full load and speed operation.
The new oil formulation meets the standards of all major diesel engine manufacturers, including: Allis Chalmers, J.I. Case, Caterpillar, Cummins (CES-20076, CES-20078), John Deere, Detroit Diesel, Ford, International (Navistar), Mack Trucks (EO-M Plus, EO-N Premium Plus), Massey Ferguson, Mercedes, Minneapolis-Moline, Oliver and Volvo. It also exceeds Allison Type C-3, Global DHD-1, Volvo VDS-2 and ACEA E5 commercial specifications.
