Haldex Brake Systems has formed a strategic alliance with, and made a $3-million equity investment in, Altra Technologies, a Minneapolis, MN-based developer of electronic collision-avoidance systems for commercial vehicles. Cummins and Westport Innovations (Vancouver, BC) have formed a 50/50 joint venture to develop and market low-emissions, high-performance natural gas-fueled engines for vehicles and industrial applications. Westport will contribute its high-pressure direct injection technology and other proprietary natural-gas technologies; Cummins, its current on-highway medium-duty spark-ignited natural-gas engines and proprietary engine-related technologies.
