Qualcomm celebrates 15 years of OmniTRACS

Qualcomm Inc. today announced that it is celebrating the 15th anniversary of its OmniTRACS satellite mobile communications system.
In August 1998, OmniTRACS and the CDMA cellular concept behind it were rolled out. Schneider National was the first truckload carrier to use the service.
Qualcomm said more than 1,600 U.S. truckload fleets and 2,000 NAFTA truckload fleets use OmniTRACS to communicate with drivers, monitor vehicle location and provide customer service.
