Quick checker

Mar 1, 2002 12:00 PM

Cummins Inc. says its new QuickCheck II system for Palm or HandEra handheld devices is designed to read and capture engine, transmission and brake system data from electronic diesel engines.

According to the manufacturer, the system covers all diesels engine broadcasts — including SAE J1939 and J1587 data. In addition, says Cummins, it easily reads fault codes, trip information, engine parameters and other data.

Compared with its original QuickCheck, which read and captured SAEJ1587 engine data using a data link adapter, the manufacturer noted QuickCheck II is a more user-friendly interface that can meet the diagnostic needs of vehicles powered by any electronic diesel from any manufacturer. “QuickCheck II is the fastest, most convenient and least expensive way to diagnose a 400-ton haul truck, an RV or a commercial truck,” said Mike Champlin, director of aftermarket e-business.

The QuickCheck II kit includes a custom datalink adapter, all necessary interface cables and connectors and the diagnostic software application. A separate software and cable package is available for diagnosing the Cummins turbodiesel offered in Dodge Ram pickups.
