ATRI: Driver shortage #1 issue

Nov 10, 2006 3:31 PM

A recent survey by ATAS American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) indicated that the driver shortage is the top concern among trucking executives. ATA said it would use the survey results to “focus its advocacy role.”

Other concerns include diesel fuel, driver retention, hours-of-service, traffic congestion, government regulations, highway infrastructure, tort reform, toll/highway funding and environmental issues.

“The ATRI survey is invaluable in telling us what is important to motor carriers and what strategies ATA should pursue on their behalf,” stated ATA chairman Pat Quinn.
