Bridgestone rolls out on/off-highway radial

Sep 19, 2007 12:27 PM

Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT) has debuted the new Bridgestone L320 on/off-highway drive radial. The tire maker said the L230 boasts a “solid grip” thanks to an aggressive block design that offers superior traction and retreadability and that allows the tire to run at highway speeds up to 65 mph.

The specially designed aggressive block tread and open shoulders dig into soft surfaces, such as mud and snow, for superior traction, stated Bridgestone. To fight irregular wear, stabilizing tie bars link adjoining tread blocks and as the tire wears and becomes shallower, the tie bars become part of the tread pattern. This creates additional edges to “bite” into soft surfaces, further enhancing soft-surface traction, the company explained.

Bridgestone said the to ensure exceptional tire life, the L320 uses a 31/32-in. tread depth and tough tread compound that resists cuts, chips and tearing.  The enhanced compound also fights heat build-up so the on/off-highway drive radial can be used at sustained speeds to 65 mph. In addition, the L320 drive incorporates four steel belts and an all-steel casing for enhanced retreadability. The L320 is available in 11R22.5 and 11R24.5 sizes, both in “G” and “H” load ratings, and in size 12R22.5 in “H” load rating.
