Cummins launches Recon ISX

Nov 9, 2006 12:56 PM

Cummins Inc. has announced that it is remanufacturing ISX engines on a new state-of-the-art production line at San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico. Every ReCon ISX, the manufacturer said, is completely disassembled, thoroughly inspected, remanufactured and tested on the production line to verify that it meets factory specifications.

“The Cummins ReCon ISX is an extremely important product for Cummins and our loyal customer base,” said Allen Pierce, gm of parts and service manufacturing. “We must provide the very best in quality and value, which is why we’ve handpicked people at all levels, including several from the original equipment plant in Jamestown, NY, and brought them [to San Luis Potosi] for the duration of the implementation process. All the latest quality tools and Six Sigma processes are being used to ensure our best ReCon engine launch to date.”

“The new ReCon ISX line represents a major investment in the talented and dedicated employees at our facility,” added plant manager Aaron Borunda. “We have sufficient capability to meet all forecasted orders, plus we have the expansion capacity available to meet future growth needs.”

ReCon ISX engines come with a two year/200,000-mile warranty. Current production is limited to engines produced between 1998 and October 2002, Cummins reported. ISX engines with cooled-EGR subsystems will start to become available in the first quarter of 2007.
