The national price for a gallon of diesel fell 1.6 cents to average $2.392, giving the trucking industry a much-needed break from the last three consecutive weeks of new record highs.

Prices rose in some regions, however. The Rocky Mountain region saw the largest jump as prices rose 2.2 cents to $2.43. Diesel prices in the Gulf Coast fell the most on a 2.4-cent decline to $2.331, making it the cheapest region in which to fill up. The most expensive diesel can be found in California, where prices held flat at $2.589.
