Diesel gains two cents

The national average price for a gallon of diesel increased two cents to $2.946 for the week ending July 23, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Both the Gulf Coast and Rocky Mountain regions tied for having the largest price increase, up 2.7 cents to $2.895 and $2.987, respectively. The West Coast was the only region that posted a decline, down 0.4 cents to $3.047. The cheapest region in which to fill up was in the Lower Atlantic, despite a 2.4-cent jump to $2.888. California was once again the costliest region, as price held steady at $3.097.
