Jan 17, 2007 2:06 PM

The national average price for a gallon of diesel fell 7.4 cents to $2.463 for the week ending January 14, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Prices fell in all regions, but slipped the least in New England, dropping a nickel to $2.622. The Lower Atlantic saw the steepest drop at nine cents to $2.368, making it also the cheapest region in which to fill up. The most expensive region in which to purchase diesel was once again California at $2.773, in spite of a relatively sharp 8.3-cent decline.
