Diesel on the rise

The national average price for a gallon of diesel for the week ending April 2 shot up 5.2 cents to $2.617, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Every region saw a significant price hike, but California suffered the most, up 8.5 cents to $2.812. California was also the most expensive region in which to fill up. Prices held the steadiest in the Rocky Mountain region, increasing 2.8 cents to $2.629. The Midwest region was the cheapest for diesel at $2.578, even after a 5.5-cent increase.
