The national average price for a gallon of diesel fuel fell 3.5 cents to $2.227, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said. Prices remain historically high, as this marks a 48.2-cent increase year-over-year.

All regions posted a price drop, but the largest was reported in West Coast as prices fell 4.9 cents to $2.481. Price in New England were the most stable, falling only 2.1 cents to $2.389. California, despite a relatively high 4.3-cent rollback in prices, remained the most expensive region in which to fill up at $2.518. Bargain hunters would be best suited to hit the Midwest as prices there fell 3.7 cents to $2.157.
