Diesel prices tick upward

The national average price for a gallon of diesel jumped 7.4 cents to $2.545 on the week ending March 5, according to the Energy Information Administration.

All regions saw a sizable increase, but the worst was in the Central Atlantic at 8.9 cents to $2.682. Meanwhile, prices held the steadiest in the Rocky Mountain region, rising 3.6 cents to $2.545. The Gulf Coast became the cheapest region in which to fill up in at $2.499, despite elevating 5.6 cents. California retained its claim to being the most expensive region at $2.739 after rising 5.1 cents.
