Diesel approaches record at $2.313

Jun 20, 2005 4:01 PM

The national average price for a gallon of diesel shot up 3.7 cents to average $2.313, the Energy Information Administration said today. This is only 0.3 cents shy from tying the record high diesel price set on Apr. 11.

All regions suffered a price hike but the Central Atlantic region saw the worst of it as prices ascended 5.2 cents to $2.451. California prices remained the most stable but the Golden State still retains the crown for the highest region in which to fill up thanks to a 1.9-cent increase to $2.476. The lowest prices may be found in the Rocky Mountain region at $2.236 despite a 2.6-cent hike.
