Diesel drops 1.5 cents

Dec 19, 2006 3:26 PM

The national average price for a gallon of diesel has decreased 1.5 cents to $2.606 for the week ending December 17. That reflects a 14.4-cent premium compared to the same week last year.

Although all regions posted a decline, prices remained the most stable in the Central Atlantic, Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions, all of which fell 0.8 cents to $2.722, $2.555 and $2.716, respectively.

Prices fell the most in California, but remained the most expensive in the U.S., after a 4.6-cent drop to $2.917. The Gulf Coast was the cheapest in which to fill up at $2.519 after a 2.1-cent decrease.
