Carrier sings praises of Kenworth navigation

Aug 30, 2006 1:50 PM

According to Kenworth Truck Co., one of the first users of its new integrated GPS Navigation System is so sold on it, that he plans to order more.

“You’re never lost,” said Jim Elliott, owner of Elliott Transport Systems. “If we miss a turn without a system, we drive around trying to find where we need to go and that uses time and wastes fuel. I’m planning on ordering 10 more Kenworth trucks this fall and I’ll have the Kenworth GPS Navigation System put in each one of them.”

He added that the system eliminated the need to call shippers and terminals asking for direction.

According to Kenworth, drivers and trucking companies benefit from features such as:

  • it speaks the directions as the driver approaches the destination

  • a backlit touch screen that’s easy to use and see

  • an integrated MP3 player with 10 gigabytes of memory that plays through the cab’s sound system

The new system is standard with the Kenworth Diamond cab interior and optional with the Splendor cab interior.
