Yellow name change reflects global aspirations

Jan 3, 2006 1:26 PM

Yellow Roadway Corp. today announced it has changed its name to YRC Worldwide Inc. and will change its stock ticker to “YRCW” on the NASDAQ. Its website has changed to www.yrcw.com.

“We now operate in over 70 countries around the world and our services have expanded to encompass logistics as well as global, national and regional transportation,” said YRCW chairman, president & CEO Bill Zolars. “Our new name…better reflects the reality of what our enterprise is today.

According to YRC, the name change reflects the continuation of its existing strategy, highlighted by its 2003 acquisition of Roadway Corp. and USF Corp. in 2005. Its Meridian IQ company is providing expanded global logistics management and freight forwarding capabilities in China, it added.

“We continue to build our brands and expand our international, national and regional capabilities,” said Zollars. “Our objective is to provide seamless, end-to-end global transportation solutions to our customers.”
